The Legacy.

Honda's legacy began in 1946 when founder Soichiro Honda established the Honda Technical Research Institute in Hamamatsu, Japan, initially repurposing surplus generator motors to create motorized bicycles. Formally incorporated in 1948, the company released its first original motorcycle, the Dream D-Type, in 1949, quickly becoming the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer by 1959. Honda expanded into the automotive market in 1963 with the T360 mini-truck and the S500 sports car, eventually achieving global stardom with the 1972 launch of the fuel-efficient Civic. Throughout its history, Honda has been a pioneer in engineering, introducing the groundbreaking CVCC engine in the 1970s to meet strict emissions standards without a catalytic converter, and launching the first Japanese luxury brand, Acura, in 1986.
